Tractor of the Year® The origins.
-
The Tractor of the Year® is an international award that, yearly, a group of European journalists - specialized in agricultural machinery - gives to the best tractor of the year. Twenty independent technical magazines are members of the jury and valuate open field tractors, specialized tractors (orchard/wineyard) and the design of both categories. Before including each tractor in the final shortlist of the nominees, the jury members must have had the opportunity to evaluate it under field conditions. The Tractor of the Year® was awarded for the first time in 1998. Each edition ends with an award giving ceremony carried out in the first day of an important agricultural technical show: Agritechnica, Eima, Sima, Fima, Agribex, Fieragricola. The prize was an idea of TRATTORI, an Italian magazine fully dedicated to the tractors and to the agricultural machinery. Soon almost all the leading agricultural magazines – one per country in Europe - were involved: the jury steady increased in number in the course of the years. In the 2010 Edition – 13th Edition - the jury members represent 20 European nations. The jury scans continuosly the market, testing and analyzing the different models in order to be ready for the 2011 Edition.
